Network Director
Gregory W. Goins is Director of the VA MidSouth Healthcare Network (VISN 9). He is responsible for an operating budget of more than $3.5 billion to serve a population of 276,124 unique Veterans and more than 13,000 employees. Mr. Goins provides executive leadership and formulates the strategic direction for an integrated healthcare delivery system comprised of five Joint Commission accredited medical centers located in Kentucky and Tennessee. Additionally, VISN 9 medical centers support 40 Community Based Outpatient Clinics, eight Outpatient Clinics, three Community Living Centers, and a network of contract providers. The Network is a vital link to the education and training of area healthcare professionals through its affiliation with eight medical schools. Mr. Goins is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, a Certified VA Mentor, and is certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology as a medical library scientist. He is a graduate of Leadership Cincinnati (Class 42) and received the Cincinnati Torchlight Award in 2019. Mr. Goins is an ambassador for the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. Mr. Goins is an Operation Enduring Freedom Veteran and a 10-year Navy Veteran, where he served as a Hospital Corpsman and a Medical Service Corps Officer. He is a two-time recipient of the Navy Achievement Medal and recipient of the Navy and Army Commendation Medals. Mr. Goins earned a master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Operations Management from the Ohio State University and has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Western Washington University.
