The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) MidSouth Healthcare Network (VISN 9) is an integrated healthcare delivery system comprised of five Joint Commission accredited medical centers.

There are 238 counties within the MidSouth Healthcare Network covering over 100,000 square miles. Approximately 13,000 full-time employees are dedicated to providing area Veterans a full range of quality and cost-effective medical, specialty, psychiatric, and extended care services.

Our Mission

The MidSouth Network's mission is to meet the healthcare needs of Veterans with excellence in value, quality, service, education, and research. From primary care to the latest medical technologies and research, the Network is a healthcare leader and innovator nationwide, and in the communities it serves.

Over 13,000 full-time staff provide Veterans a full range of quality and cost-effective medical, specialty, psychiatric, and extended care services. The Network maintains three Community Living Centers, five inpatient mental health units, five residential and rehabilitation treatment programs, regional referral centers for spinal cord injuries, and prosthetics and national referral centers for all solid organ transplants, flow cytometry and photopheresis.

VISN 9 is a vital link to the education and training of area healthcare professionals through the Network's affiliations with seven medical schools. These affiliations support basic, clinical, and applied research in various areas to enhance patient care.

A high priority for the MidSouth Network is the scope of services provided, and how those services are delivered. To ensure VISN 9 is the healthcare provider of choice for Veterans, management and staff focus on improving customer satisfaction, service efficiencies, and more convenient access to primary and preventive care.

Our Partners

The Network works with several partners, including the Department of Defense and state health departments within its geographic boundaries to enable Veterans to obtain convenient and quality healthcare thirty minutes or thirty miles from home. Each medical center encourages stakeholder participation through facility committees and task forces to ensure additional grassroots involvement.

The Network's resources and customer service attitude extend far beyond the walls of its facilities to support the broader needs of the communities it serves. All five facilities are chamber of commerce members, partners with local and state government agencies, and active participants in local education programs, community health initiatives, and the United Way's Combined Federal Campaign.
